Key job responsibilities
• Assist with risk assessments as required and follow-up control measures to completion
• Advise associates and managers on company procedures and legal requirements within the level of a Technician knowledge.
• Monitor the fulfillment center for compliance to company safety procedures
• Assist with the investigation of incidents to establish root cause and develop required action plans with relevant processes
• Update internal records in regard to incidents, near misses and accidents
• Collate and produce weekly safety report as required
• Attend health and safety meetings on a monthly basis
• Undertake projects and information gathering to establish hazards and level of risk within the delivery station
• Be involved in undertaking action plans to ensure continuing compliance with Legislation
• Be able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving safety investigations
• Monitor Dock and Yard safety procedures to ensure compliance
• Monitor Smart Handling safety procedures to ensure compliance
• Carry out EHS training sessions for managers and associates as required
A day in the life
A day in the life
You’ll be based at one of our sites. This means that you can closely track what’s happening and people can easily ask you any questions throughout their shifts. This role is all about spotting potential issues before they happen. You’ll spend a lot of time checking the site and getting to know the way that people use equipment. By understanding how every task and machine works, you’ll be able to think about the best way to keep processes safe.
You’ll also be one of the people to put safety changes into action, which means you’ll get to work closely with lots of people. Alongside your daily and weekly tasks, you’ll offer support to our Operations team on ad-hoc safety-related work.
Safety is so important to Amazon, and you’ll help us gather the vital data that keeps us on top of our processes and ahead of any issues. You’ll also share that data with people across the business and work with other teams to make sure they’re putting safety first.
About the team
Customer Fulfilment, or CF, is where it all started for Amazon. CF has scaled up from a humble team of booksellers to a sophisticated global team which handles more than 1.5 million orders every day. The CF team are the first people in the chain that helps customers get products at the speed we’re known for. We’re based in Fulfilment Centres, which are at the heart of Amazon’s fast-paced Operations network. Our centres are sometimes referred to as the ‘First Mile’ because it’s where most Amazon packages start their journey. We help to manage dynamic inventory and facilitate speedy deliveries round the clock.
• NVQ Level 3 in occupational safety related field/NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent • Experience running metrics report, analysing data to identify problems and a root cause • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety Legislation and pertinent regulations • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience in logistics / operations/ warehouse/ customer oriented environment • Demonstrable ability to learn quickly, while closely adhering to new processes and procedures; • Demonstrate willingness to change, adapt and innovate within the business • You possess a meticulous level of sustained attention-to-detail • You’re able to work independently, at times under minimum levels of supervision, demonstrating your ability to organise and prioritise your time effectively to meet targets and deadlines • You can work at all levels, coaching and mentoring others to work safely • Great team player: you contribute to a positive and healthy team environment • You bring plenty of drive, enthusiasm and self-motivation with you each day Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
