Job Description:

** This is a fixed-term position (maternity cover) for 12 months **

Keeping our people safe and well at work is a top priority at Amazon. Our Safety Specialists play an integral part in making this happen. In this role, you’ll put the vital steps in place to make sure everyone at your location works in a safe and healthy environment. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a difference to people every day. By proactively keeping them safe, you’ll also empower them to feel confident in their roles and motivated to do their best work.

Key job responsibilities
- Monitor site performance against set KPIs and create plans to improve processes
- Set up workplace health and safety programmes and arrange training sessions
- Analyse safety metrics and incident trends to help colleagues plan appropriate resources for areas with the highest risk
- Carry out audits to make sure your site is compliant with relevant health and safety laws and implement solutions where you identify risks

A day in the life
You’ll be based on location at one of our sites, which could be one of our fulfilment centres, sortation centres or delivery stations. Being on site means that you can keep a close eye on the processes. As well as helping us stay on top of health and safety compliance, you’ll spot potential issues and identify opportunities for improvement. That means working closely with people across the business to get to know the risks they experience and gathering data to identify smarter and safer ways that we can work. You’ll also set up training and other programmes to help everyone follow new safety processes and reach new standards.

About the team
Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) looks after heavy items like furniture and large home appliances. Our team manages the entire service, from supply chain fulfilment to delivery and returns. What sets this service apart from others is the extra level of customer care. Not only do we deliver large items, but we unpack, assemble and install them, and take away old items where needed. With a focus on safety, productivity and innovation, we’re changing the way customers buy and receive large goods for the better.

We have ambitious plans to expand our specialist fulfilment centres and delivery stations across the UK and Europe. While those of us who work in delivery stations will do some night shifts, most of us work during the day. Our team is made up of people across operations, supply chain, business intelligence and programme management, and everyone plays a crucial role in growing this part of the business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- A degree, or equivalent level of qualification in-line with the European Qualifications Framework (EFQ), in Production, Manufacturing, Safety, Environment, or traditional Engineering field
- The NEBOSH General Certificate
- Alternatively, a NEBOSH Diploma or an IOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety is required
- Understanding of UK Environment, Health and Safety legislation
- Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
- If you do not currently hold the NEBOSH Diploma, Amazon may require you to complete this qualification as part of our internal upskilling program in order to aid your career development.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Preferred qualifications are not required to apply for a position at Amazon. If you have all the basic qualifications above, we’d love to hear from you.
- Experience of Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies
- Experience of planning or managing environmentally conscious initiatives
