Safety QRA Senior / Principal Consultant

Job Title: Safety QRA Senior / Principal Consultant

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior/Principal Consultant with proven ability to tackle complex technical challenges to join our dynamic technical safety consultancy. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to global transformations such as the decarbonisation of energy networks and energy systems.

You will be part of a growing team within a well-established risk advisory division, primarily responsible for delivering advisory and safety management services. Your focus will be on providing high-quality services related to risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and decision support. This role is highly valued in sectors such as oil and gas (upstream, midstream, downstream), hydrogen, and other energy transition areas like CCUS, renewables, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and delivering technical solutions to customer issues using consequence modelling, reliability analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Managing multiple projects effectively, ensuring delivery within the required timeframes, cost, and quality standards.
  • Applying tools and techniques such as QRA, consequence analysis, numerical analysis, and safety studies to support clients in meeting regulatory obligations.
  • Leading the development of safety case reports, ALARP demonstrations, and other safety-related documents.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, managing project bids, and identifying business opportunities.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement in delivery processes and providing guidance to junior team members.
  • Participating in self-development and career progression activities, and preparing a personal development plan in collaboration with the line manager.

Responsibilities Include

  • Leading and delivering complex risk assessments and safety analyses for both onshore and offshore major accident hazards.
  • Ensuring high-quality delivery on projects, including creating detailed reports and managing client interactions.
  • Supporting the development of safety cases and demonstrating compliance with safety regulations.
  • Managing customer relationships and working closely with other consultants and technical experts.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a relevant STEM discipline.
  • Strong technical safety and risk assessment experience, specifically with QRA (Quantitative Risk Assessment).
  • Advanced numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex solutions and use software tools for risk and consequence analysis.
  • Proficiency in using consequence and risk analysis software like PHAST/SAFETI (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in report writing and presentations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced consultancy environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
