The Role of the Safety Pilot

1. Supporting the Remote Pilot In Command in the delivery of UAS operations
2. Ensuring operations comply with necessary regulations and maintaining detailed records
3. Enforcing adherence to company safety protocols and best practices
4. Assisting UAS operators with flight planning, pre-flight inspections, and post-flight debriefings
5. Providing emergency response guidance in the event of system failures or unexpected hazards
6. Training and mentoring UAS operators on best practices and risk mitigation strategies

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful as a Safety Pilot, you will need:

1. Aviation knowledge, including Ground School and live flying experience
2. Understanding of meteorology and airspace
3. A1 and A3 certificates (CAA/EASA)
4. A pilot's license (LAPL/PPL/HPL) and an A2 Certificate of Competence
5. An engineering license and MALE/HALE UAS Platform Certification
6. A Flight Radiotelephony Operating License
7. Experience with MUAS/MALE platforms, military flying, or instructional duties
8. Eligibility to hold SC clearance and a willingness to undergo the vetting process
