Job description

The Company

Opportunity to join a growing wholesaler and distributor business within the automotive industry as a Safety Manager during an exciting period for the company. Across Australia and New Zealand, the business has a total of 18 branches and is expanding. With some of the most reputable global brands in their portfolio, the business is committed to servicing retailers throughout the ANZ region, taking pride in exceptional quality and customer service.

The Role

This position will oversee locations across Australia and New Zealand and report directly to the COO. The successful individual will drive safety culture across the business and stakeholders, developing policy and strategy. Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive policies, processes, and systems tailored to business needs and regulatory requirements.
  2. Ensuring the business complies with relevant safety legislation, regulations, and standards within Australia and New Zealand, and staying updated on legislative changes.
  3. Developing and delivering safety training, including inductions, ongoing education, and specialized training, as well as supporting operations with toolbox talks.
  4. Recording all incidents, near misses, and accidents, investigating root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
  5. Managing the Return to Work (RTW) program, coordinating injury management, and liaising with healthcare providers.
  6. Collaborating across all levels within the business to embed a safety culture into daily operations.
  7. Establishing safety metrics, conducting audits for compliance, and advising on areas for improvement and safety initiatives.
Your Background

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  1. Substantial experience in safety management, preferably in wholesale distribution, but experience in other operational or manufacturing environments is also valuable.
  2. Experience managing multiple sites across the country.
  3. Deep knowledge of safety legislation, regulations, and standards in Australia and New Zealand.
  4. Experience in developing safety policies, processes, and systems from scratch.
  5. Proven ability to develop and run safety training and induction programs.
  6. ICAM certification is desirable but not essential.
  7. ISO qualifications or relevant formal certifications are advantageous.
  8. Willingness and ability to travel to various locations and distribution centers as needed.
