About the Role
An experienced Defence Safety Manager is required who can support delivery teams and provide safety management, and safety engineering guidance and advice to accountable and responsible personnel within specific DE&S delivery teams.
The position is a hybrid role with approx. 3 days/week on site in Bristol. Candidates must hold SC clearance and be sole UK nationals.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day safety management activities and delivering against agreed tasking including:
- Review and delivery of safety management system artefacts.
- Carrying out 1st party independent assurance reviews.
- Facilitating a delivery teams safety management system.
- Providing consultancy and specialist advice to teams.
- Providing specialist safety solutions to teams’ safety problems.
- Provision of safety cross skills transfer to other team members.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Must be a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP) with a practitioner level experience of safety management systems.
- Must have an ability to day-to-day manage safety engineering tasking.
- Must have experience in providing safety advice or delivering safety artefacts.
- Must have an experience in rationalising and evidencing safety arguments.
- Must have an ability to work independently and directly into delivery teams under the new Ops Model.
- Must have knowledge and experience on aviation safety management, including;
- MAA Regulatory Publications.
- Defence Air Safety Portal.
- EASA and CAA Regulations.
- GEAR, ASEMS, POSMS and the DSA Regulations.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Should/could have knowledge and experience of:
- Remote piloted and uncrewed air vehicles.
- Maritime platform safety management.
- Ship/Air Integration.
- OME and weapons integration.
- Land based platform safety management.
- Should/could have knowledge and experience of fault and event tree analysis and BowTie assessment.
Specialisms Required
Defence safety engineer, with experience in:
- Air domain equipment safety management.
- Safety legislation, regulation, conventions, and defence policy and regulations with good knowledge of ASEMS.
- Certification and release to service.
- Through life safety management.
- Defence safety management systems.
- Safety case management and reporting.
- Hazard log and threat management.
Security & Nationality Requirements
Due to the sensitive nature of this role, only sole UK nationals are eligible. Candidates must hold active SC Clearance prior to commencing the role.
