Job description

Safety Management System Officer & Reporting Manager

Company: Safran Seats | Job field: Architecture and systems engineering | Location: Cwmbran, Wales, United Kingdom | Contract type: Permanent | Contract duration: Full-time | Professional status: Professional, Engineer & Manager

Are you interested in working at the business end of Aerospace, where airline brand meets innovative passenger experience? Then your next opportunity could be with Safran Seats, an industry award-winning, premium designer and manufacturer of First and Business Class seating and technology. Our passenger experience prides itself on innovation, customization, quality, and industrial design.

At Safran Seats, we are unique within aerospace, as we interface with both the world's biggest airlines and airframers alike, with the largest seats portfolio of all seats suppliers. One day you could be liaising with one of the world's largest airframers, and the next, some of the biggest airline brands around the world!

In the UK, Safran Seats specializes solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide-body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales, and Brackley, England.

Job Summary

The Aviation Safety Management team seeks to proactively mitigate safety risks before they result in aviation accidents and incidents. Although seats are rarely the cause of aircraft accidents, they play a critical role in survivability and the severity outcome of aircraft accidents and incidents. Negative publicity from poor safety performance can also significantly impact business viability.

The Safety Management System (SMS) Officer & Reporting Manager at SGB will:

  1. Be a strong communicator and promoter of Aviation Safety;
  2. Constantly seek potential safety hazards related to SGB products;
  3. Effectively report safety risks to management for proactive mitigation;
  4. Ensure accidents and incidents involving SGB products with airline customers are avoided or minimized in severity.

The role supports the implementation of ICAO Annex 19 requirements across Safran Seats and Safran Seats GB, especially in Design, Production, and Maintenance regulations. The role involves supporting the SST SMS Safety Manager and/or the Compliance Monitoring & Safety Manager, ensuring process compliance, sharing best practices, and implementing SMS training for management, engineering, technicians, and workforce.
