An opportunity has arisen to join our Risk Team to support the Health & Safety and Insurance functions. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to both teams as well as providing some basic technical advice and guidance to employees of the council on Health & Safety matters. The role is diverse, and you will have contact with many departments and also outside bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive and Insurance companies, as well as members of the Public at times.

Some Health & Safety knowledge would be an advantage but training to IOSH Managing Safely level will be provided to the candidate if required. The successful candidate must have GCSE’s in Maths and English at Grade C or above or equivalent vocational or academic experience.

You should have experience of working in an office environment involving telephone calls, writing letters, filing and you must have good interpersonal skills. Experience of working in an insurance/health & safety environment would be advantageous. You will need IT skills sufficient to compose letters and respond to emails and you must have the ability to act on your own initiative within the parameters of the role.
