Job Description:

• Nationwide travel
• About the role
• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Deliver ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture, including road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Own company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring suitable arrangements are in place and managed.
• Deliver Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive behaviors and safety culture.
• Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance (e.g., HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities).
• Ensure incidents and accidents are fully investigated by trained colleagues, with escalation as needed, and liaise with external stakeholders like emergency services and media.

About you

• Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental Risk qualifications
• Extensive Accident Investigation experience including root cause analysis
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
