About the role

• Responsible for the delivery of health, safety and environmental risk strategy of the business as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Delivery of ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on Health and Safety, Environmental risk and Safety Culture, including all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Ownership of company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring suitable and sufficient arrangements are in place and managed.
• Responsible for delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to the business, fostering positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
• Leading relationships and dialogue with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance (e.g., HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, Trade Bodies).
• Ensuring incidents and accidents are fully investigated by trained colleagues, with proper escalation and external stakeholder liaison as needed.

About you

• At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental risk qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with negotiation and influence abilities at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
