Job Description:

• Nationwide travel
• About the role
• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy of the business as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Delivery of ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture, including all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Ownership of company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring suitable arrangements are in place and managed.
• Responsible for delivering the Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness program to the business, promoting positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
• Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in the business's safety and legal compliance, such as HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, Trade Associations.
• Ensure all incidents and accidents are fully investigated by trained colleagues, with escalation as needed, and liaise with external stakeholders like emergency services and media.

About you

• At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental Risk qualifications
• Extensive Accident Investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
