About the role

  • Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
  • Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
  • Acting as Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture, covering all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
  • Owning company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place and managed.
  • Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
  • Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and trade associations.
  • Investigating incidents and accidents thoroughly, liaising with emergency services and media when necessary.

About you

  • Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
  • Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
  • Auditing qualifications and experience
  • Environmental Risk qualifications
  • Extensive Accident Investigation experience, including root cause analysis
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with negotiation and influence abilities at senior levels
  • Valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
