Job Description:

• Nationwide travel
• About the role
• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Acting as the Subject Matter Expert on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture for Smiths News, covering all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Owning company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring appropriate management and compliance.
• Leading Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to foster positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
• Maintaining positive relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders such as the HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, and Trade Bodies.
• Ensuring thorough investigation of incidents and accidents, liaising with external stakeholders like emergency services and media as needed.

About you

• At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental Risk qualifications
• Extensive Accident Investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
