Job Description:

• Nationwide travel
• About the role
• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Delivery of ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture, covering road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Ownership of company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring suitable arrangements are in place and managed.
• Implement Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs in conjunction with the Head of Safety & Risk to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
• Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance, such as the HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, and Trade Bodies.
• Ensure all incidents and accidents are fully investigated by trained colleagues, with escalation based on severity, and liaise with external stakeholders like emergency services and media as needed.

About you

• At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental Risk qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
