Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Manager, Middlesbrough

Prysmian is seeking a Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) Manager to support a large-scale project in Dunbar, Scotland, and Seaham, County Durham. The role is full-time on-site, providing health and safety advice for onshore installation activities performed by Prysmian and its supporting contractors.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proactiveness through site safety tours, audits, and participation in safety meetings, ensuring Prysmian fulfills the role of Principal Contractor under UK CDM Regulations.

Project Scope includes:
  • Access roads/entrances onto construction easement
  • Trial Holes (Joint bay positions)
  • Construct Road / Ditch Crossings
  • Proving pits and access to HDD entry/exit excavations
  • Duct proving & cleaning and associated remedials
  • Joint bay excavation
  • Ducts recleaned prior to cable installation
  • Cable jointing, splicing, and testing
  • Reinstatement and removal of fencing
Candidate Requirements:
  • Recognized certificate in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, NVQ, NCRQ)
  • Valid CSCS or CCNSG Card
  • Experience as a Health and Safety Advisor or Manager
  • Auditor qualification to ISO45001 Standard
  • Training in accident investigation techniques, including root cause analysis
  • Active CPD in Health and Safety
  • IOSH Membership
  • Experience on renewable energy, HVDC, transmission, or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Previous experience with a Principal Contractor under UK CDM Regulations
  • Knowledge of UK Health and Safety Legislation
  • Proficiency in ALARP Risk Management Principles
  • Ability to write project plans and safety procedures
  • Customer-facing experience, managing contractors and small teams
