Job Title: Safety, Health and Environment Practitioner

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as a Safety, Health and Environment Practitioner at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site.

The role

As a Safety, Health and Environment Practitioner, you will join a proactive team implementing SHE plans to support our objectives. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations, developing policies to manage risks, and supporting continuous improvement.

  1. Provide guidance on safe systems of work and risk assessments.
  2. Support the Health and Safety Manager in developing safety and environmental strategies.
  3. Assist in conducting audits and maintaining records.
  4. Conduct workplace inspections to monitor compliance.
  5. Drive initiatives to uphold ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, based on-site at Devonport Royal Dockyard. There is an opportunity for Optimised Working Patterns supporting 7-day working arrangements.

Essential Experience
  1. Passion for SHE, demonstrated at interview.
  2. Relevant SHE experience in hazardous industries, ideally with knowledge of Dockyard operations or the Royal Navy.
  3. Understanding of health and safety regulations and legislation.
  4. Proficiency with ISO 45001 and 14001 standards and environmental permitting.
  5. Basic knowledge of nuclear site license requirements.
Qualifications
  1. Level 3 accredited Health and Safety qualification, e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate.
  2. Aspiration to achieve Chartered status with IOSH or similar.
Security Clearance

The candidate must be a sole UK national eligible for NNPPI security clearance. Further details are available at GOV.UK.
