Are you ready to take on the challenge of shaping safety practices in cutting-edge products?
Job Title: Safety Engineer
Salary: Circa £60,000 depending on experience
Location: Stevenage or Bristol (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week onsite due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
The opportunity:
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer to exploit their safety and system engineering skills to influence the safety aspects of technically sophisticated and exciting products. This will involve optimising the effort devoted to safety assurance, with the goal of balancing safety against the inherently lethal attributes required of complex missile systems.
By understanding the system and its operating context, you will decide what type of evidence will most cost-effectively show that the identified hazards have been mitigated to the customer's satisfaction, using a range of techniques and approaches. This role is about balancing time and cost constraints to ensure that a convincing safety case, comprising appropriate evidence, is constructed. The role calls for pragmatism and a solid appreciation that safety results from good engineering, not just compliance with numerical targets.
Alongside core engineering projects there are opportunities to conduct internally funded research packages. We can provide a variety of project work that will allow you to apply the breadth of your safety and reliability engineering skillsets and experience and develop a deep understanding of the technologies involved.
