Job summary

Viridor is seeking a Safety & Compliance Manager to join our team, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will lead health and safety systems across the site, ensuring compliance with management systems and environmental permits.

The role requires hands-on leadership in an industrial setting with a focus on risk assessments, SSOW, and a no-compromise approach to safety. A UK driving license and IOSH/NEBOSH qualification are preferred.

Qualifications

• A hands-on safety professional with experience in industrial settings. Energy-from-waste facility would be advantageous.
• Experience in a highly regulated and compliance focussed environment.
• Strong leadership to build a new team in a startup-like scenario with a no compromise approach to health, safety and compliance.
• Experience of permitted/regulated activities and processes, preferably within controlled emissions environment.
• Knowledge of the energy from waste/power industry including legislative knowledge.
• IOSH/NEBOSH safety qualification (or equivalent).
• Awareness of ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO 9001 and ISO50001.
• Full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Manage health and safety systems and risk assessments at site level.
• Maintain Viridor management systems and environmental permits compliance.
• Develop safety policies and monitor SSOW and method statements.
• Work closely with the Plant Manager and site team to ensure no compromise on safety.
• Support plant development while maintaining productivity and safety compliance.

We have an opportunity in GRREC for a Safety & Compliance Manager to join our team working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

About the role

As our Safety& ComplianceManager, you willbe responsible forthe management and monitoring ofHealth & Safety systems,proceduresand safe systems of workat sitelevel.You'llbe responsible formaintainingcompliance with Viridormanagement systems andsupportcompliance with environmental permits or licenses.

Implementing policy and procedure to deliver a highly compliant, quality led environment with safety at its core,you'llactivelymonitor,maintainand manage health and safety risks assessments, SSOW and method statements to ensure best practice and preventionofincidents and accidents.

What are we looking for?

Ahandsonsafety professionalwith experience in industrial settings.Experienceof an energyfrom waste facility would beadvantageousand preferable

Relevant experience within a highly regulated and compliance focussed environment

Strong leadership skills to lead and develop a newteam in a start-up scenariowith a no compromise approach tohealth, safety compliance.Able to work with the Management Team to embeda safety and compliance focussed culturewithin a complex workplace

Experienceof permitted/regulated activities and processes, preferably within controlled emissions environment

Knowledge of the energy from waste/power industry inclusive of legislative knowledge

IOSH/NEBOSH safety qualification (or equivalent)

Awareness of the relevant management standardsISO45001,ISO14001, ISO 9001and ISO50001
