Job summary

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is seeking an experienced Safety and Compliance Engineer to strengthen our Embedded Generation Team across multiple Scottish locations. You will drive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance for PPC permits, and influence project decisions with robust risk assessments.

You'll review procedures, participate in audits, support incident investigations, and coordinate external reporting to regulators while enabling safe, compliant operations across our

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Safety or Environmental Management or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory reporting.
• Experience in electricity generation, utilities, or regulated infrastructure sectors.
• Experience with risk assessment methods such as Bowtie, PHR, HAZID/HAZOP.

Responsibilities

• Drive a strong safety culture and governance across the Embedded Generation team.
• Manage regulatory reporting for PPC permits and engage regulators on environmental conditions.
• Review and audit procedures to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
• Support incident investigations and share learnings across the business.
• Develop and review Bow Tie and risk assessments to demonstrate ALARP.
