About the Business Unit

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable, and transmission & distribution networks. We provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle—from concept and design to construction, operations, decommissioning, or repowering and life extension. We are helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

Overview of the Role

We – the Energy Unit, specifically the Power, Process & Nuclear division, are looking to recruit a Safety Case Engineer to join our team. The role will cover nuclear power, the naval nuclear programme, and decommissioning. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team with opportunities for career progression and to make an impact on the development of the Energy unit.

For this role, you are expected to demonstrate knowledge/experience in areas such as:

  • Safety Case Production (e.g., SJP, PCSR, PCmSR, PRS)
  • Modification/Design Change Submissions (LC/AC 22)
  • Decommissioning
  • Functional Safety Assessment
  • Regulatory Interface
  • ALARP Assessment
  • Safety & Risk Assessment
  • Deterministic Safety Assessment
  • Probabilistic Safety Assessment
  • Nuclear Safety Legislation, Regulation, and Policy
  • Engineering Substantiation
  • HAZOP and other identification studies
  • HAZAN
  • Criticality
  • Nuclear Fire

Candidate Specification

  • Degree qualified in a Science, Technology or Engineering discipline
  • Experience in the nuclear or defence industries (others from high-hazard industries considered)
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards it
  • Proven ability to deliver nuclear safety deliverables on complex projects
  • Willing to mentor junior staff
  • Candidates must be eligible to apply for and obtain Security Clearance
