We are recruiting for the position of Safety Case Author to join us permanently on major projects.

Purpose and Scope:

As Safety Case Author, you will be part of the major programme safety case capability, providing radiological safety assessments. You will report to the Safety Case Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Undertake radiological safety assessments and related activities, collaborating with engineering, project management, project controls, and document management teams.
• Act in safety assessment or equivalent roles.
• Support the Safety Case Manager and wider programme safety case and engineering leads as required.
• Assist in capability development, resource strategy, recruitment, and competence establishment.
• Advise leadership, engineering, programme, and project management on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
• Interface with suppliers as necessary.
• Support interactions with regulators and safety committees.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.
• Experience with Human Factors assessment and HAZAN production.
• Knowledge of UK and international standards and assessment guides.
• Experience with nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
• Experience in ergonomics and human factors design.
• Proficiency with safety analysis codes (THERP, HEART, etc.) in nuclear operations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance and willingness to pursue Developed Vetting.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
• Strong communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
• Proficiency in MS Office, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of UK nuclear site licensing and safety assessment principles.
• Experience in UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations and regulatory permissioning.
• Experience with safety cases in civil reactors and the defence sector.
• Experience with international nuclear safety assessments.
• Project management and controls skills.
• Ability to mentor and coach others.
