Safety Assistant Job Summary:

This position will assist the Safety Director and Safety Manager in all matters of safety and risk management within the company's scope. The scope may include office staff, company drivers, the service department, construction sites, fabrication shops, etc.



Safety Assistant Essential Functions:

  • Develop and provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures

  • Recommend, warn and advise employees all levels of hazards and appropriate corrective measures

  • Conduct thorough accident investigations and find root causes

  • Must be able to understand and interpret federal, state and local safety and health regulations

  • Visit job sites and conduct inspections frequently

  • Identify trends from leading and lagging indicators

  • Promote and build the company's safety culture

  • Other duties as assigned.




Safety Assistant Education, experience, technical skills & attributes required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety (or related discipline) or 1-2 years of experience in the safety field managing or supporting a safety program.

  • Ability to manage and/or monitor multiple projects and activities occurring simultaneously

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, database applications and spreadsheets

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Strong coaching skills

  • Ability to work with and build positive relationships with employees at all organizational levels

  • Willing to obtain training to become more effective

  • Management experience is a plus.

  • OSHA 30-Hour is a plus.




Safety Assistant Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to drive to locations within Pennsylvania and other surrounding states. (90% same day travel.)

  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Strong speaking, reading and writing skills and ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions

  • Ability to work in adverse weather temperatures (hot, cold, humid or dry)

  • Ability to work independently and with others

  • Ability to work well under pressure




Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.



Position is full-time Monday - Friday and is not a remote work position.
