We have stations throughout the United Kingdom.

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Safety and Risk Advisor to join the team based in our Glasgow Head Office. The purpose of this role is to ensure the efficient day to day running of the organisations Safety Management System (SMS) and support the implementation of the organisations emergency Response Plan (ERP). The role is responsible for providing guidance in identifying, assessing, and mitigating safety risks across all operations, ensuring compliance with relevant aviation regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Daily administration of the Q-Pulse safety database in preparation for the morning triage meeting.
  • Processing safety occurrences in accordance with regulatory requirements and assigning reports to an appropriate Safety Investigator via Q-Pulse.
  • Production of key safety meeting data packs and action trackers.
  • Liaison with Safety Investigators ensuring that target dates for investigation closures and Mandatory Occurrence Reports (MOR’s) are achieved on time.
  • Monitoring progress of key deliverables including Safety Performance Indicators (SPI’s) and Safety Improvement Mandates (SIM’s).
  • Coordination and publication of the Safety Newsletter and updating the Safety Noticeboard.
  • Oversight of safety training programme ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Preparation and distribution of reports for key stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Attending regular safety meetings and contributing to the continuous improvement of Loganair’s Safety Management System.
  • Assisting the Head of Safety to monitor that all hazards and risks are controlled to an acceptable level, subject to regulatory requirements and maintenance of the Company risk/hazard register and assessments.
  • Support Head of Safety and wider business in managing risks associated with change.
  • Support Head of Safety with safety assurance and audit activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with current safety trends, industry regulations, and emerging risks, incorporating this knowledge into the company’s safety strategies.
  • Provide support and guidance to operational departments on safety and risk management.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture, encouraging reporting of safety hazards, near misses, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the implementation of the Emergency Response Manual to all team members within ERP and ensure that the training and drills is performed in accordance with the Emergency Response Manual.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Emergency Response Manager, to administrate the training and general development of the Emergency Team.
  • Arrange the training, education and exercise program for the Emergency Response Team.
  • Administration of emergency response support software and tools.

Requirements

  • Experience (3+ years) in a safety and risk management role, within the aviation industry or other transport, heavy engineering or maintenance setting; or a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in an aviation, engineering, technical or safety related field.
  • Keen interest in safety and risk management within aviation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex safety issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Additional qualifications in safety or risk management (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, or similar).
  • Knowledge of aviation safety regulations, including UK CAA, EASA, and ICAO standards.
  • Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience working with aviation safety databases or risk management software.
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and crisis management.
  • Experience in accident/incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
