Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority is seeking a Safety and Health Improvements Advisor to lead and deliver health and safety enhancement projects across the organisation. You will analyse performance data, develop practical solutions and support the creation of a safer, healthier working environment for our world‑leading research and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Certificate
• Knowledge of safety disciplines including Behavioural Safety, Risk Assessment and COSHH Management
• Experience working in a health and safety role within a complex technical, engineering, industrial or scientific environment
• Experience developing and delivering safety training programmes and awareness activities
• Ability to manage defined work packages and deliver improvement activities with a high degree of autonomy
• Knowledge of confined space safety, investigations, root cause analysis, auditing, inspections or safety management systems would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Lead allocated safety and health improvement projects, managing delivery and outcomes independently.
• Support the delivery of larger safety and health improvement programmes across the organisation.
• Contribute to safety assurance activities, including inspections, monitoring and improvement reviews.
• Gather and evaluate feedback from stakeholders to identify process weaknesses and improvement opportunities.
• Develop procedural guidance, training materials and supporting content to enable successful implementation of new and revised processes.
• Collaborate with Safety and Health Business Partners to embed and sustain SHE improvements.
• Analyse safety performance data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Deliver safety training, toolbox talks and awareness activities across a range of health and safety topics.
• Manage safety communications, procedural updates and document workflows to maintain accurate and effective information.
• Support safety committees and working groups, capturing insights and recommendations that inform the improvement programme.

UKAEA is an onsite organisation, and this role requires regular onsite presence (usually between 3-5 days in any given week) in line with business needs. We actively support flexible working arrangements where this is compatible with the role .
