The Department

The Safety Office sits within Property Services with a reporting line into the University Secretary, Board Member responsible for Health and Safety. Governing Health and Safety across the University it works closely with all Schools and Service Departments to provide a safe and compliant working and studying environment for staff, students and visitors.

The Role

Reporting into and supporting the Head of Health and Safety, ensuring general Health and Safety compliance including the operational estate across all schools and central services departments and providing support to the external-facing work of the Property Services Department with the schools and central services departments.

The Person

You will need to have expert Health and Safety knowledge of regulatory requirements, more specifically in a laboratory environment, including, but not limited to extensive knowledge of COSHH (Biological and Chemical) and specialist area Risk Assessment.

You will have experience of producing reports, spreadsheets and other protocols and analysis of data to produce those documents and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. You will need to be able to apply your skills and knowledge pragmatically and effectively whilst being diplomatic but firm.
