Job description

The building services team meet the challenge of ensuring the building, landscaping and offices are always maintained to the highest standard and fully operational. This high-profile position offers an exceptional opportunity to become an integral part of the Building Services Team delivering a professional service to all stakeholders at our Kingsway Distribution Centre.

Job Title: Safety and Compliance Coordinator (Building Services)

Location: Kingsway Business Park, Michael Faraday Avenue, Rochdale, OL16 4FW

Working Rota: Monday to Friday

Working Hours: 40

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Safety and Compliance Coordinator, you'll be doing the following:

  • Manage the prequalification and procurement to ensure all the contractors we engage are sufficiently competent.
  • Maintain a database of approved contractors.
  • Assess contractor risk assessments and method statements on a job-by-job basis. Issue Permits to Work for higher risk tasks.
  • Induct all individual operatives on the Health & Safety and emergency procedures for site.
  • Audit contractors periodically for the duration of the work to ensure compliance with the agreed working practice.
  • Sign off a Permit to Work on the completion of a job.
  • Manage team training, development and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure that the Kingsway SMS criteria is met and any changes trained out when required.
  • Maintain statutory compliance database and ensure all areas of compliance are documented and complete.
  • Manage and maintain completion, documentation and timings of planned preventative maintenance regime.
  • Represent the Building Services team with Health & Safety matters.
  • Manage Health & Safety actions that arise.
  • Support with internal/external H&S audits.
  • Implement best practice and CI within the Building Services team.

There are between 5 and 10 different Building Services contractors from a vast array of trades and disciplines on site each working day.

What We're Looking For:

  • A degree of autonomy and independence for the building services team to avoid any potential risk of a conflict of interest.
  • Be qualified and competent to at least NEBOSH general certificate level to assess the suitability of the control measures proposed.
  • Be sufficiently experienced to assume the responsibility of issuing Permits to Work and to challenge and question contractors on Health and Safety.
