At Westinghouse, innovation is in our DNA. We are creative. We think differently. We reimagine the possible across the nuclear industry every day.

Westinghouse Electric Company (WEC) is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Safeguard Specialists to join our Global Nuclear Safeguards (GNS) team in supporting WEC's efforts in the global nonproliferation regime and regulatory compliance.

The GNS Professional Development Program (PDP) is a three-year program designed to train individuals in GNS roles related to domestic (state-level) and international (IAEA) nuclear material control and accounting (MC&A) requirements. The program supports Global Operations Services Manufacturing at the Springfields Fuels Limited Facility (SFL) in Preston, UK, Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) in South Carolina, US, and Westinghouse Electric Sweden (WSE) Fuel Manufacturing Facility in Västerås, Sweden.

GNS fellows will have three, one-year rotations across two of the three locations to learn and assist with daily activities while completing the program requirements. They will be mentored by experienced MC&A professionals and interact with various facility personnel to learn about operations and support safeguards related programs and compliance requirements. The final rotation involves working for a Westinghouse global corporate function to enhance and modernize safeguards and compliance programs.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Work closely with personnel at your current location, completing assigned duties
  • Collaborate with the Global Nuclear Safeguards manager on PDP tasks
  • Support facility staff in regulatory preparation, data collection, audits, inspections, and interactions
  • Assist with data analysis, trending, and visualization
  • Lead a GNS project to improve, automate, or increase efficiency of safeguards-related programs, defining project scope, evaluating resources, and managing execution

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields; graduating seniors will also be considered
  • Ability to work in the UK, US, or Sweden and meet export control requirements
  • Willingness to expatriate
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and SQL databases
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques like regression and ANOVA
  • Understanding of machine learning, data analysis, and modeling
  • Proficiency in Python or R
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
