Job summary

Northern Education Trust - Hetton Academy is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer who truly wants to enhance the life chances of the children and young people under our care.

The successful candidate will actively work with parents / carers and other agencies through joint planning, training and monitoring of safeguarding arrangements. You will ensure policies, procedures and resources promote welfare and protection of students.

Qualifications

• Experience in safeguarding and welfare in an educational setting.
• Knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation and best practices.
• Ability to work with parents, carers and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Promote welfare and protection of students and support vulnerable families.
• Develop and monitor safeguarding policies, procedures, and staff training.
• Collaborate with parents, carers and external agencies to ensure secure arrangements.

Post: Safeguarding & Wellbeing Officer

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary Range: Grade 6, SCP 23-25, FTE salary £35,570.00 - £37,563.00 , (pro rata salary £33,038.37 - £34,889.53)

Salary amounts quoted are from the 1 September to 31 August and therefore if you commence employment part way through the academic year they are subject to an equated salary adjustment

Working Type: Full Time, 37 hours, 39 working weeks, 45.942 paid weeks

Base: Hetton Academy, North Road, Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton-le-Spring DH5 9JZ

Please note:the post holder will be engaging in regulated activity, working mainly or wholly with children. This position is exempt from the rehabilitation of offender’s act 1974. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
