Overview
We have a great opportunity for a dynamic Office Manager with HR experience to join our school to provide strategic leadership and management of the main office and HR administration to drive professional standards within the administrative support of the school. The successful candidate will manage and support the administrative staff and, with the wider teaching and support staff, provide effective administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the school. We are a small, yet expanding school, with around 560 students in year groups 7-11. About Lordswood Boys' School: Lordswood Boys' School is part of the Central Academies Trust (CAT). CAT was formed in September 2017 to sponsor Lordswood Boys' School with the aim of vastly improving the life chances of the young men the school serves. Responsibilities
- Manage and support administrative staff and collaborate with teaching and support staff to provide effective administrative support for the smooth running of the school.
- Oversee the recruitment process, including posting job adverts and organising interviews.
- Liaise with the school's HR professional, maintain confidentiality, and ensure accurate record keeping.
- Develop and implement systems to maximise efficiency; maintain and manage office and HR records, data protection and SEND-related documentation.
- Maintain SEND records and support the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes; work with SENCOs, parents, external agencies and local authorities.
- Support mental health and wellbeing of students and deliver short-term one-to-one support as needed.
- Support professional development and participate in ongoing training.
- Ensure activities align with safeguarding, safer recruitment, and promoting the welfare of pupils.
- Work predominantly term time with an additional 10 days per year during holiday times, as agreed with the Head of School.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in an administrative setting in a school, or transferable experience adaptable to a school environment.
- Excellent record of working under pressure, with high personal standards for performance and student outcomes.
- Flexible, creative, and innovative with strong communication skills.
- Advanced PC skills, especially Excel (spreadsheets and databases); prior office experience.
- Ability to plan, prioritise workloads, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience in recruitment processes and confidentiality; strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of office and HR systems and protocols; willingness to learn with full training offered.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and students at all levels; experience in education or with young people with specific difficulties and vulnerabilities is an advantage.
