Job description

Salary: £50,890 - £53,565 pro rata

Hours per week: 22.2

Interview Date: Thursday 12 November 2026

Protecting children and young people is at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for a knowledgeable and passionate Safeguarding Adviser to lead improvements in safeguarding practice across schools, academies, independent schools and early years settings within Wiltshire. This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with education leaders, providing expert advice, support and constructive challenge to help ensure the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection are consistently achieved.

The Safeguarding Effectiveness Team works closely with schools and early years settings to drive continuous improvement, providing expert advice, support and challenge across a range of areas. The team delivers data analysis, inspection support, safeguarding oversight and communications, while ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and helping educational settings provide the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

In this varied role, you will work with schools and colleges to monitor the effectiveness of safeguarding arrangements, undertake annual audits, analyse trends and produce detailed reports that inform service improvements. You will support settings where concerns have been identified, helping to develop and implement improvement plans, while also designing and delivering safeguarding training, networking events and professional updates. Working closely with colleagues, external agencies and school leaders, you will play a key role in responding to emerging safeguarding issues and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

We are seeking a confident professional with significant safeguarding experience as a DSL and senior leader, excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships while providing robust challenge when needed. If you are passionate about making a lasting difference to the lives of children and young people, and want to influence safeguarding practice across a diverse range of educational settings, we’d love to hear from you. Join us and help create safer environments where every child can thrive.
