Role

Job Purpose:

To support the day-to-day running of the Residential Recovery House Programme, including supporting the main house project and scatter flat operation, aimed at promoting positive alternatives to drug use and stability in the community.

This involves working with individuals and families affected by drug misuse, collaborating with partner organisations, and assisting in implementing the Safe as Houses Recovery Programmes and community links.

Full training will be provided. PVG Scheme Membership and SSSC Registration are required for this post.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will work as part of a team providing safe, supported accommodation for service users, offering practical and emotional support to help them achieve personal outcomes in daily life.

Main Responsibilities

This role at our Alexandria service in West Dunbartonshire involves working on a rotating pattern of day, mid, and back shifts. It is a part-time position (21 hours/week) on a temporary basis until September 1, 2025, covering a 4-week rolling rota. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing safe, supported accommodation for homeless individuals.
  • Supporting, reviewing, monitoring, and evaluating progress through case management systems to achieve positive, person-centred outcomes.
  • Maintaining and updating all documentation in line with policies and legal requirements.
  • Planning and facilitating meetings, reviews, and support sessions in accordance with support plans.
  • Providing advocacy and advice to support independence and tenancy conditions.

  • A genuine passion for helping people is essential.
  • Ideally, possess 1 year of experience working with vulnerable people and challenging behaviour (personal, voluntary, or professional).
  • Commitment to care practices aligned with SSSC codes, National Care Standards, and policies.
  • Empathy and recognition of individual rights.
  • Flexibility and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Hold and be willing to work towards an SVQ 3, ideally with SVQ 2 or above already attained.
