While this role is challenging and requires flexibility and adaptability to changing environments, it is very rewarding, offers a great career progression, and is a rare opportunity.

No two days are the same, allowing the post-holder to utilize a variety of skills and expertise. You must enjoy working with people and want to support the unit manager in making a real difference to our patients and families, as well as contribute positively to the team and our service, especially as the nursing team adapts to systemic anti-cancer therapy changes.

The position offers:

  • The opportunity to develop and maintain a professional portfolio
  • The chance to help lead the nursing service across the SACT unit to ensure unified and consistent standards of care
  • The opportunity to work in the specialized area of cancer services
  • The ability to manage emotional issues related to patients' stages in their journey empathetically
  • The chance to be part of a collaborative team working with all care groups to develop cancer patient care and management services
  • To gain confidence and actively support divisional initiatives and issues

The post-holder is expected to carry out all relevant care duties they are competent in, without supervision, and may supervise and support the training of both qualified and unqualified staff. These factors contribute to making this a great place to work.

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a population of around 800,000. Our vision is 'Great healthcare from great people'. Our values are: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected, and confident that we are making a difference'. We have adopted a new way of working called 'We care', which empowers frontline staff to lead improvements daily. We seek compassionate individuals to join us on this journey to improve care for patients, families, and carers every day.
