Are you a passionate and creative Senior Editor ready to inspire travellers around the world?


The DK Travel division is seeking a well-organized and creative individual to join our team, working across our expanding list of travel guides, including the Top 10 and Like a Local series. We are looking for someone with a passion for travel and travel publishing; someone with original ideas, excellent editorial skills and an instinctive sense for what makes great content.

During this 12-month sabbatical cover, you will be responsible for driving our programme of travel guides, ensuring our established series remain fresh and engaging, while continuously evolving existing content. You will oversee the project-management of new titles, from the initial concept approval through to the finished product, and ensure that existing titles are up-to-date and reflective of current travel trends. Above all, you will ensure all content is produced to the highest editorial standard.

Building strong working relationships, across all teams and at all levels, is central to the role, as is great project management skills, which will allow you to balance your own workload while guiding others.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Managing your own projects and overseeing the work of others
  2. Creating and monitoring schedules and budgets for a range of titles, ensuring all associated admin is updated and completed
  3. Commissioning, briefing and overseeing outsourcers
  4. Ensuring quality control of editorial content and sales material
  5. Copy-editing, proofreading, fact- and sense-checking commissioned content
  6. Mentoring and developing the editorial team, offering practical support and hands-on training
  7. Regularly reporting progress and providing updates to the editorial director
  8. Researching and refining concepts for new titles and existing content
  9. Reviewing and implementing editorial styles, documentation and processes


We are looking for a motivated self-starter who is happy to jump straight into a team. If you have a genuine passion for travel and travel publishing, thrive in a collaborative environment, and are capable of managing multiple projects at any one time, we want to hear from you!


In line with DK’s hybrid working approach, this role is currently office-based for a minimum of three days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely for part of the week.
