About the S-RC Cup

The S-RC Cup (United Kingdom RC Motorsport Championship Series) is a national motorsport competition for secondary school students. It blends STEM education with competitive racing, challenging young people to design, build, and race their own radio-controlled cars in a national championship format.

With 10 regions hosting two rounds each, we are looking for capable and enthusiastic university student volunteers to step up as Regional Leads—ensuring each event is run smoothly, fairly, and professionally.

The Role: S-RC Cup Regional Lead

As a Regional Lead, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of two S-RC race days in your region. You will manage your local volunteer team, work closely with schools and race officials, and ensure the event is delivered to the standard and structure set out by the S-RC Cup HQ team based in Bristol, UK.

You’ll play a key leadership role in inspiring school teams, coordinating logistics, and representing the S-RC Cup mission of hands-on STEM learning through motorsport.

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the delivery of two S-RC Cup race days in your assigned region
  • Attend virtual training and planning sessions with the S-RC Cup HQ team in advance of the events
  • Manage and brief a team of local volunteers, including track marshals, judges, and event staff
  • Oversee the full running of the event: registration, heats, safety checks, scoring, awards, and pack-down
  • Ensure the day follows the official S-RC structure, rules, and guidelines
  • Act as the primary point of contact for your region on race days
  • Maintain clear communication with the Bristol S-RC team before and during your regional events
  • Assist in the sourcing of competitor teams and venues.

Who We’re Looking For

  • University students from any discipline (STEM, education, or event-related fields preferred)
  • Organised, dependable, and confident in managing people and logistics
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead a team
  • Passion for STEM, motorsport, youth engagement, or educational outreach
  • Comfortable with taking responsibility for a full-day event, with support from HQ
  • No prior experience required

What You’ll Gain

  • Real-world leadership and event management experience
  • Training and support from the Bristol HQ team
  • Recognition as an official S-RC Cup Regional Lead
  • Valuable experience for careers in engineering, teaching, event planning, and more
  • Certificate of contribution and reference letter upon successful delivery
  • Branded kit discounts, free S-RC race tickets.
