Job summary

Fractile is seeking a Rust Software Engineer to build a reference AI inference stack in Rust, tuned to Fractile’s custom hardware, and to write a Linux kernel driver. You will develop cloud-based tooling for data centre deployments and explore cutting-edge AI inference ideas in collaboration with hardware engineers.

You will shape architecture and engineering culture while working from Bristol or London, contributing to a truly iterative, co-design environment focused on performance and scale.

Qualifications

• Strong Rust skills or senior-level experience in a systems language with demonstrated Rust proficiency via open source or personal projects.
• Experience serving AI workloads or deep systems-level experience in areas such as low-latency data movement, paging, caching, or real-time processing.
• Solid computer science fundamentals and the ability to read unfamiliar code quickly, understand it, and identify problem areas.
• Comfort working autonomously in areas of ambiguity

Responsibilities

• Build a reference implementation of a full AI inference stack in Rust, tuned to Fractile’s hardware.
• Write a Linux kernel driver in Rust and develop cloud-based tooling for data center deployments.
• Research state of the art in AI inference and bring ideas into the codebase.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers in a true co-design loop to shape architecture and engineering culture
