Location: Barking and Dagenham

Basis: 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday (must be every day during term time)

Start: September 2025

I am currently seeking an experienced PMLD Tutor who speaks either Russian or Ukrainian to work with a student with very complex needs in their home. The role involves working 2 hours daily, Monday to Friday, starting September. The tutor should actively teach and develop the student’s skills, not just support.

The student is a Year 8 with PMLD and requires a tutor skilled in managing complex needs, including:

  • Premature birth (32 weeks)
  • Significant physical disability, unable to walk or sit independently without support or specialized equipment
  • Limited receptive language skills at one word level
  • Some verbalization of individual words
  • No independent self-care skills
  • Doubly incontinent; hoist may be necessary in school
  • Good eater but unable to feed himself
  • Requires daily massages from parent
  • Needs sensory play and augmentative communication
  • Does not like to be left alone, requires attention to prevent distress

The student’s parent will be present at all times to support the tutor.

This role is suitable for experienced teachers and SEN tutors with a background in teaching students with complex PMLD needs, engaging in sensory activities, and utilizing the student’s skills effectively.
