Job summary

National Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Rural Surveyor to deliver professional services across Hampshire, South Downs and Isle of Wight. Working within our Estate Management team, you will manage rural assets with operational and strategic aims, balancing environmental, social and financial considerations.

Based at Micheldever Hub with hybrid office/home working and site visits, you will handle lettings, tenancies, land management, and compliance, collaborating with tenants and colleagues to

Qualifications

• A member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
• Knowledge of land use, agriculture, asset management, land management, environmental issues, conservation and sustainable development and how it relates to NT strategy.
• Strong verbal and written communication, including influencing and negotiation.
• Ability to analyse, interpret and resolve rural surveying problems using technical knowledge to implement workable solutions.
• Strong consulting skills with listening, trust-building and service delivery.

• Support day-to-day estate management across a diverse portfolio of land and property.
• Manage lettings, tenancies, agricultural tenancies, and agri-environment schemes.
• Provide clear advice within a governance framework and build strong tenant relationships.

Summary

We're looking for an enthusiastic Rural Surveyor to deliver professional services for a diverse portfolio of land and property across Hampshire, South Downs & Isle of Wight. You'll work within a friendly and helpful Estate Management team to deliver effective management of rural assets, supporting both operational and strategic objectives. Working collaboratively while maintaining professional independence, you'll apply your technical expertise to provide practical, sustainable solutions that balance environmental, social, and financial considerations. What It's Like To Work Here

The management of our tenancies and assets, and the relationships we build with our tenants, are fundamental to our £40m+ annual rental income and the delivery of our strategic goals work. In this role, you'll build on these foundations, taking on varied and engaging casework that will help shape the future of the UK's largest private landowner. This role covers estates across Hampshire, South Downs and Isle of Wight, and your contractual place of work will be at our Hub Office in Micheldever (nr. Winchester). Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits, hot desking and meetings at other National Trust places. We'll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40-60% of your working week. What You'll Be Doing

If you enjoy varied and rewarding work, this role offers the chance to make a real impact across a diverse estate. No two days are the same - you'll support day-to-day estate management while helping shape the future of our land and assets. Your work will include areas such as commercial lettings, management of agricultural tenancies and agri-environment schemes on in hand land, woodland creation and management, access and boundary matters, work with restrictive covenants, managing commons and working with commoners, easements and wayleaves and occasional acquisitions and disposals. You'll champion best practice within a structured governance framework, provide clear advice, and build strong relationships with tenants, helping us care for and conserve our land for the future.

Who We're Looking For

• A member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
