Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a Countryside Officer to manage a site, lead on stewardship projects, and supervise volunteers and contractors. The role focuses on bringing the site back into favourable condition with regular safety checks and hands-on work.

The position runs full-time, 8am-4pm, Tuesday to Saturday, with some hours outside those times as needed. Interviews are on-site at a future date.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in countryside management or appropriate discipline.
• Experience with countryside management policy and practice and managing public sites.
• Significant practical site management experience and safe use of tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead on projects and Stewardship Scheme delivery to restore site to favourable condition.
• Ensure safety checks and remedial work on site and manage volunteers and contractors.
• Oversee site checks, repairs and occasional out-of-hours work.
