Job summary

Arriva Group is looking for a Running Shift Engineer based in Greater London. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses, ensuring safety and quality service for our passengers. Your role involves performing inspections, servicing, and diagnostic fault finding according to the highest standards.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or higher in PSV, HGV maintenance (or equivalent).
• 5 years’ hands-on experience in PSV/HGV repair and maintenance.
• Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Valid PCV/PSV licence.
• Ability to pass a PCV pre-employment medical.

Responsibilities

• Perform servicing, inspections, and repairs to DVSA and Arriva standards.
• Carry out diagnostic fault finding and improve vehicle reliability.
• Prepare buses for MOTs and support preventative maintenance.
• Work a rotating shift pattern with early and late shifts.

Skills

NVQ Level 2 or higher in PSV, HGV maintenance

Overview

Running Shift Engineer!

Hourly Rate anywhere from £22.47 – £25.51

Weekday Overtime: £29.21 – £33.16 (Time and a third)

Weekend Overtime: £33.70 – £38.26 (Time and a half)

Based at our Thornton Heath Garage, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a fleet of London buses to ensure they stay in tip-top shape and keep our passengers safe.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Running Shift Engineer, no two days will be the same! You’ll have the responsibility of:

• Performing servicing, inspections, and repairs to the highest standards (DVSA and Arriva standards exceed the norm!).


• Carrying out diagnostic fault finding and contributing to the continuous improvement of vehicle reliability.


• Preparing buses for MOTs and supporting preventative maintenance campaigns to keep our fleet in peak condition.


• Working a 7/3/7/4 rotating shift pattern, including both early and late shifts – giving you flexibility and balance.

What Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for someone who is as passionate about quality as we are! To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• NVQ Level 2 or higher in PSV, HGV maintenance (or an equivalent international qualification).


• Alternatively, at least 5 years’ hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of PSV/HGV.


• A full UK driving licence (with no more than 6 penalty points).


• A valid PCV/PSV licence.


• The ability to pass a PCV pre-employment medical.
