Job summary

Solirius Reply in London seeks an experienced Ruby Backend Developer to build and maintain scalable, secure backend systems. You will work within a collaborative, agile team delivering high-performance services and RESTful APIs.

You will contribute to architecture, code reviews, and DevOps practices with a focus on security, data integrity, and performance. The role offers flexible working within a modern tech consultancy environment.

• Troubleshoot performance and production issues.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Ruby Backend Developer to build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

You will part of a professional software engineering team helping to build and regularly ship software, some of the projects you may be working on will include;

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Ruby and Ruby on Rails
• Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services
• Work with databases, background jobs, caching, and third-party integrations
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code
• Troubleshoot performance and production issues
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams
• Participate in system design and code reviews

Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
• Mandatory professional experience with other backend technologies, such as Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL and database optimisation
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar backend technologies
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Strong testing experience with RSpec, Minitest, or equivalent
• Good understanding of Git, software architecture, security, and performance optimisation
