Job summary

Solirius Reply, part of the Reply Group, is seeking an experienced Ruby Backend Developer to build scalable, secure backend systems. You will work in an agile team, delivering high-performance services and RESTful APIs.

Responsibilities include designing APIs, collaborating across engineering, QA, and DevOps, and ensuring robust, testable code with a focus on security and performance.

Qualifications

• Strong Ruby on Rails experience with building backend systems.
• Professional experience with other backend technologies (Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET).
• Strong PostgreSQL/MySQL experience and database optimisation.
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar backend tech.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and at least one cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong testing experience with RSpec, Minitest, or equivalent.
• Good understanding of Git, software architecture, security, and performance optimisation.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Ruby Backend Developer to build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems.

Key Responsibilities:

You will part of a professional software engineering team helping to build and regularly ship software, some of the projects you may be working on will include;

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Work with databases, background jobs, caching, and third-party integrations.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Troubleshoot performance and production issues.
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams.
• Participate in system design and code reviews.

Skills & Experience:

• Strong commercial experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Mandatory professional experience with other backend technologies, such as Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL and database optimisation.
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar backend technologies.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong testing experience with RSpec, Minitest, or equivalent.
• Good understanding of Git, software architecture, security, and performance optimisation.
