Job Title: Food Safety Inspector
£41.64 per hour
Working Pattern: 36 hours, Monday to Friday
Responsibilities:
- Carry out inspections, re-inspections, and surveys; manage a complex caseload involving investigation and enforcement.
- Prepare and serve Statutory Notices; take enforcement action in line with the Council’s strategy and departmental policies.
- Report and advise on cases where statutory action is not suitable; initiate prosecutions for non-compliance with statutory instruments.
- Consult and negotiate with developers, landlords, contractors, businesses, and clients to ensure case progress.
- Conduct site visits, surveys, inspections; attend Public Inquiries, courts, and tribunals.
- Prepare specifications, advise, and review legal notices drafted by junior colleagues.
- Manage specific projects, policies, or areas of expertise.
- Demonstrate good observational and investigative skills; carry out inspections outside normal hours if necessary.
- Manage a caseload effectively.
- Possess previous experience in a similar role.
- Have a good working knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practice.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain accurate records for official use.
- Hold up-to-date food safety competencies required for this role.
