Job description

The role is HYBRID and Candidates will be required to attend Southwark offices or surrounding area at least 2 days per week and may be required to make home visits.

Candidates require extensive experience with NEC (Northgate revenues) and Council Tax Legislation – Previous experience with Civica Collect (Onestep) is desirable but not essential.

£28.88 per hour

Main purpose:
  • Manage a caseload in the administration, billing, collection, and recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates, and BIDs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and council policies.
  • Identify and take collection actions on accounts related to Miscellaneous Income & Housing Benefit Overpayments, liaising with service departments.
  • Implement best practice processes to meet collection targets and support corporate objectives.
  • Maintain accurate databases for Council Tax, NNDR, and BIDs.
  • Contribute to policy development and ensure service operations adhere to regulations.
  • Represent the Council in courts for collection and administration of local revenue, managing court processes and orders.
Responsibilities
  1. Meet individual and team targets for Revenues Service delivery, managing specific caseloads with autonomy.
  2. Provide expert advice to customers via various channels, ensuring accurate account management and compliance with legislation.
  3. Prepare and analyze management data, identify operational issues, and lead process improvements.
  4. Maintain relationships with stakeholders, including social landlords, internal departments, and external agencies.
  5. Train and mentor staff, ensuring quality assurance in revenues processing.
  6. Coordinate with the Valuation Office Agency for property assessments and appeals.
  7. Maximize debt recovery through appropriate legal and collection actions, including managing cases for court proceedings.
  8. Implement quality assurance frameworks, monitor performance, and develop joint activities with partners.
