Job description

Our Royalties team are growing and we’re seeking an organised, proactive, and analytical Royalties Assistant to join the team. Supporting the Royalties Assistant Manager you will work closely with the teams across the whole Royalty Department and firm as a whole and build excellent relationships with an exciting portfolio of clients.

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to kick-start their career in the music business industry. We are seeking an individual with a desire to learn, aptitude for numbers and a passion for the music industry.

You will be provided with on-the-job training focusing on royalty accounting, royalty valuation, royalty audit work and advanced excel and analytical skills.

The role will be dynamic and varied split across approximately 70% royalty accounting, 15% royalty audit, 15% catalogue valuations and the added bonus of opportunities to attend various live gigs & events throughout the year as part of the teams networking and business development activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for ensuring that contractual obligations are met between record label/publisher and artist/writer. You will support the Royalty Department in all analysis work around this and assist with completing various documents to aid our workflows.

Responsibilities may include maintaining writer and publisher royalty accounts, analysing income statements, annotating artist/writer contracts, ensuring newly released products are updated in the royalty system, distributing statements, legal department correspondence and any other one-off type jobs our clients require.

  • Preparation and completion of royalty statements
  • Ensuring contractual guidelines are met
  • Process UK and International receipts
  • High level analysis on royalty audits
  • Assist with record/publishing catalogue valuations
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of work
  • Communicate with clients, both on-site where applicable or via telephone / email to resolve straight forward queries or issues and obtain supporting documentation
  • Escalate any issues or problems that occur in a timely fashion
  • Royalty software migration and operation
  • Assist on any other royalty projects

WHO YOU ARE

  • Highly numerate and analytical
  • The desire to begin a successful career
  • Proficient in Excel and ability to learn new software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Confident, professional, and articulate in dealings both internally with partners, staff and with clients (including artists & managers directly).
  • Ability to cope in a fast-paced environment, manage high volume workloads and deliver work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative as well as work effectively in a team

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Preferably educated to degree level, or equivalent
  • GCSE Level 6 or above in Maths
  • General knowledge of the music industry beneficial
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly competent in MS Excel/MS Outlook
  • Competent language skills for email writing

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • 9.30am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday
