Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join as a flexible post person with driving. You’ll deliver letters and parcels across your area, combining driving a van with walking on foot to complete routes. You’ll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, providing reliable service in all weather.

This is a temporary role with shifts that vary; a driving assessment is required on start. Pay rates across shifts are competitive, and there may be an opportunity for permanency.

Qualifications

• Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Ability to walk 20,000 steps a day and carry a mailbag weighing up to 16kg.
• Flexible shifts and team player.

What We’re Looking For

• Driving Licence: Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points – you’ll be driving a Royal Mail van as part of your round.
• Physical Fitness: Be prepared to walk 20,000 steps a day, get in and out of your van regularly, and carry a mailbag weighing up to 16kg.
• Flexibility: Shifts can vary, so we need team players who can adapt at short notice.

Your Role

As a Post Person with Driving, you’ll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, ensuring letters and parcels are delivered come rain or shine. You’ll drive round your delivery area, completing parts of your route on foot, providing exceptional service and ensuring every item reaches its destination safely.

You’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.

Important to Know

While large parts of the role involves walking, driving a Royal Mail delivery van is also a key requirement. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy being outdoors and staying active throughout the day. Please note: you’ll be required to pass a driving assessment when you start.

Pay & Shifts

The table below outlines the pay rates applicable for roles within our Delivery Offices. The rates displayed are payable for the entirety of your shift where the shift description criteria is met.

Rates could be subject to change during busy periods, Angard staffing will communicate any change to your pay rates in advance.

• Day Shift: STARTS AND FINISHES BETWEEN 0531- 1959, Pay Rate: £13.69
• Dawn Shift: STARTS BETWEEN 0201 - 0400, Pay Rate: £14.61
• Early 0500: STARTS BETWEEN 0401 - 0500, Pay Rate: £14.61
• Early 0530: STARTS BETWEEN 0501 - 0530, Pay Rate: £14.61
• Evening: FINISHES BETWEEN 2000 - 2139, Pay Rate: £14.38
• Lates: FINISHES BETWEEN 2140 - 0159, Pay Rate: £15.14
• Nights: THREE HOURS ACROSS 2300 - 0500, Pay Rate: £16.44

While this is a temporary role, there may be potential for it to become permanent.
