Job summary

Royal Mail, in partnership with Angard Recruitment, is recruiting flexible (temporary) postal delivery drivers in Poole. The role combines driving a Royal Mail van with delivering letters and parcels on your route, with shifts across day, dawn, early, evening, night, and weekend options.

You will walk parts of your route, load mailbags up to 16 kg, and pass a driving assessment. No two days are the same, and competitive hourly rates apply based on shift.

Qualifications

• Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Be prepared to walk 20,000 steps a day, and carry a mailbag up to 16kg.
• Shifts can vary; we need team players who can adapt at short notice.

Responsibilities

• You’ll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, delivering letters and parcels along your route, with some parts on foot.
• You’ll drive a Royal Mail van and securely deliver all items on your route, including handling election materials and certain items as per business standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Driving Licence: Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points – you’ll be driving a Royal Mail van as part of your round.
• Physical Fitness: Be prepared to walk 20,000 steps a day, get in and out of your van regularly, and carry a mailbag weighing up to 16kg.
• Flexibility: Shifts can vary, so we need team players who can adapt at short notice.

Your Role

As a Post Person with Driving, you’ll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, ensuring letters and parcels are delivered come rain or shine. You’ll drive round your delivery area, completing parts of your route on foot, providing exceptional service and ensuring every item reaches its destination safely.

You’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.

Important to Know

While large parts of the role involves walking, driving a Royal Mail delivery van is also a key requirement. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy being outdoors and staying active throughout the day. Please note: you’ll be required to pass a driving assessment when you start.

Pay & Shifts

The table below outlines the pay rates applicable for roles within our Delivery Offices. The rates displayed are payable for the entirety of your shift where the shift description criteria is met.

Rates could be subject to change during busy periods, Angard staffing will communicate any change to your pay rates in advance.

Shift + Shift Description = Pay Rate

• Day Shift - Starts and finishes between 05:31 and 19:59 = £13.69 per hour
• Dawn Shift - Starts between 02:01 and 04:00 = £14.61 per hour
• Early 05:00 Shift - Starts between 04:01 and 05:00 = £14.61 per hour
• Early 05:30 Shift - Starts between 05:01 and 05:30 = £14.61 per hour
• Evening Shift - Finishes between 20:00 and 21:39 = £14.38 per hour
• Late Shift - Finishes between 21:40 and 01:59 = £15.14 per hour
• Night Shift - Three hours across 23:00 and 05:00 = £16.44 per hour
