Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting flexible Post Persons with Driving to deliver letters and parcels across their route. You will drive a Royal Mail van and walk parts of your round, ensuring timely, secure delivery in all weather conditions.

Role requires a full UK driving licence (manual) with up to 6 points, physical fitness to walk long distances, and the ability to adapt to varying shifts. A driving assessment may be required on start.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (manual) with no more than 6 points.
• Be prepared to walk up to 20,000 steps per day and carry a mailbag up to 16 kg.
• Shifts can vary; you must be able to adapt at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver letters and parcels along your delivery route, combining driving and on-foot work.
• Securely deliver all items and handle election materials and other specified items per Royal Mail standards.
• Represent Royal Mail in the community and provide excellent customer service on every shift.

What We’re Looking For

• Driving Licence: Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points – you’ll be driving a Royal Mail van as part of your round.
• Physical Fitness: Be prepared to walk 20,000 steps a day, get in and out of your van regularly, and carry a mailbag weighing up to 16kg.
• Flexibility: Shifts can vary, so we need team players who can adapt at short notice.

Your Role

As a Post Person with Driving, you’ll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, ensuring letters and parcels are delivered come rain or shine. You’ll drive round your delivery area, completing parts of your route on foot, providing exceptional service and ensuring every item reaches its destination safely.

You’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.

Important to Know

While large parts of the role involves walking, driving a Royal Mail delivery van is also a key requirement. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy being outdoors and staying active throughout the day. Please note: you’ll be required to pass a driving assessment when you start.

Pay & Shifts

The table below outlines the pay rates applicable for roles within our Delivery Offices. The rates displayed are payable for the entirety of your shift where the shift description criteria is met.

Rates could be subject to change during busy periods, Angard staffing will communicate any change to your pay rates in advance.

• Dawn Shift – STARTS BETWEEN 0201 - 0400 – £14.61
• Early 0500 – STARTS BETWEEN 0401 - 0500 – £14.61
• Early 0530 – STARTS BETWEEN 0501 - 0530 – £14.61
• Evening – FINISHES BETWEEN 2000 - 2139 – £14.38
• Lates – FINISHES BETWEEN 2140 - 0159 – £15.14
• Nights – THREE HOURS ACROSS 2300 - 0500 – £16.44
