Job description

Rough Sleepers Recovery Worker - LLR - Leicester
Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Turning Point’s Leicester City Substance Misuse Services as a Rough Sleepers Recovery Worker. You’ll join a new project aimed at supporting those who sleep rough, or are at risk of sleeping rough, into drug and alcohol treatment. We have roles available with various lead specialisms including outreach and engagement, women, veterans, hostels, and criminal justice.

As a Rough Sleepers Recovery Worker, we offer a starting salary of £25,116, rising annually in line with our pay progression salary bands, up to £29,383 per year.

You will have opportunities to progress your career through a structured learning journey and clearly defined career pathways, enabling you to achieve your long-term goals and work to your strengths.

Whether you aim to progress into management and leadership roles or become a specialist as an Advanced Substance Misuse Practitioner, Turning Point will support and encourage your career development.

Role Responsibilities

Your role as a Rough Sleepers Recovery Worker will focus on proactively supporting individuals sleeping rough into treatment. You will collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies to conduct street-based outreach, deliver drop-in sessions, and facilitate structured sessions within hostels and day centres.

You will manage a small caseload of around 25 individuals who are sleeping rough or at risk, providing tailored support to help them access treatment and work towards ending rough sleeping in Leicester City.

You will need to work flexibly to engage with rough sleepers at times convenient for them, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as part of a rota within your team.

You will be part of a new Rough Sleepers Treatment Team alongside nurses, doctors, mental health practitioners, psychologists, and under the guidance of an experienced Team Leader.

The Ideal Candidate

No prior experience in this specific work is required; however, a genuine passion to help rough sleepers transform their lives and a strong belief in individuals' capacity for change are essential. You should be caring, flexible, responsive, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Applications from individuals with lived experience of rough sleeping challenges are encouraged. While these roles are full-time, we also welcome part-time applications, including those interested in evening and/or weekend work.
