Job description

ROUGH SLEEPER INTITIATIVE WORKER - Rochdale/Oldham based

Fixed Term contract to March 2026

The Rough Sleeper Initiative is an Outreach programme, for which The Sanctuary Trust receives funding from Oldham and Rochdale Councils.

Its aims are to ensure that no-one new to the streets sleeps rough for a second night, to minimise the flow of new rough sleepers onto the streets, and provide a consistent pathway onto accommodation and support services.

We need an enthusiastic RSI Worker to be based in the Oldham area.

The role will include visiting known areas of rough sleeping, identifying and engaging with rough sleepers, being proactive and working with service users to prevent and reduce risk of them returning to rough sleeping.

Our RSI Worker needs to:

Be a driver with access to a car (mileage will be reimbursed)

Be able to work unsociable hours including early mornings and late nights

Work closely with existing partners in local authority area to provide a co-ordinated response to rough sleeping

Provide a rapid response outreach service to make contact with people at times they are most likely to be sleeping on the streets

Work with key partners to address the physical and mental health needs of rough sleepers

Driving licence and access to a car (required)
