At Leonardo Helicopter Division, we currently have a vacancy for a Stress Analyst at our Yeovil site, in Somerset.

We are responsible for the design of the complete air vehicle and working within the team you will have the ability to participate in all phases of the product design life cycle from participating in leading edge innovation to supporting aging aircraft.

Working within the Rotor Systems Design and Development team you will be responsible for the detailed design and structural integrity of blades, hubs and rotating controls across the whole range of helicopter, tilt-rotor and UAV platforms using both metallic and composite materials. As a department, we cover a wide range of activities from new designs, qualification and certification as well as in-service support, modification and repair.

This exciting position will allow you to work with a broad spectrum of Engineering and Manufacturing disciplines and enable you to enhance your technical skills. As a significant proportion of Rotor components are manufactured on site there are many opportunities to be directly involved with the manufacturing organisation. Providing support to flight operations creates the opportunities to work alongside the aircraft.

We are looking to fill 3 positions in the department, and for internal applications only the JFF levels for the role range between 4, 5 and 6.

  • Static and fatigue stress analysis of metallic and composite dynamic components and associated reports
  • Development of test proposals & reports, support to component testing and analysis
  • Finite element modelling and analysis
  • Development of tools to improve the efficiency of analytical processes
  • Produce certification data in accordance with customer, company and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with Project Engineering and Customer Support functions to address in-service technical queries and report progress on a range of initiatives and aircraft programmes
  • Provide production and repair support to the manufacturing plants
  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering) or relevant industry experience in Stress Analysis
  • Knowledge/experience in or an aptitude for stress analysis (classical hand calculations and Finite Elements)
  • Ability to produce analytical reports

It would be nice if you have:
